any mountains. The closest hills must have been at least 15 miles away. Southern Pacific rattlesnakes stick to hillsides and mountain ranges. This snake was located in the flats of the desert, right in the center of Mojave Green territory. Mojave Green rattlesnakes always have a black and white tail with the white bars being bigger. This snake had no black and white bars. Like the Southern Pacific it had brown bands. This snake was highly aggressive like the Mojave Green giving a rattle as soon as it noticed us. Most Southern Pacifics are quiet upon discovery, normally not rattling until tormented. Anyway, the snake was left where found. I hope to relocate
it in the spring and get more pictures.
